Footage of former undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of the world, Mike Tyson’s training for his upcoming bout against YouTuber Jake Paul has been released.

The footage showed off Tyson’s power as he did some pad work with his trainer, with the latter giving out an audible shout as Tyson lands a left hook.

Tyson will be 58 by the time the fight happens but has kept in shape ever since he officially retired from the ring in 2005. Tyson – nicknamed ‘Iron Mike’ during his professional career, fought 56 times during his career, winning 50 – 44 of those by knockout. He did return to the ring in 2020 to fight fellow heavyweight legend Roy Jones – the bout ended in a draw.

Paul meanwhile rose to prominence as a YouTuber, but in recent years has tried to develop a boxing career, first fighting in 2020. His biggest fight to date came in 2023 when he fought Tommy Fury – brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury – which Paul lost on a split decision. Currently, his boxing record stands a 9-1 – including beating former UFC contender Nate Diaz.

It has yet to be confirmed what weight division the fight will be classified in. Paul has recently fought at cruiserweight – which has a limit of 200lb – but Tyson spent his career fighting in the heavyweight division, and weighed in at 220lb when he fought Jones. However, it is not unknown for boxers to meet at catchweights.

The fight between Tyson and Paul is scheduled to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas – the 80,000-seat home of the Dallas Cowboys NFL team – on July 20. Streaming service Netflix has the rights to air the fight – the first time it will show live boxing – and it will not be a pay-per-view event.
