- Pennsylvania senator was met by reporters shortly after Gaetz news broke
- Gaetz announced his withdrawal in a post on X
- Fetterman’s reaction has already been viewed over a million times
Pennsylvania senator John Fetterman had some fun with reporters upon hearing the news that Matt Gaetz had withdrawn his nomination to become Attorney General.
Gaetz, who was Trump’s number one pick for the AG post, posted on X earlier today to confirm his decision. It was revealed shortly after his announcement that the Florida lawmaker had been called 45 minutes earlier by CNN regarding a previously unreported second sexual encounter with a 17-year-old in 2017
Given how unpopular Trump’s nomination of Gaetz was on both sides of the aisle, there will not have been many shocked Republicans or Democrats when news broke of the former Florida congressman’s withdrawal.
Except John Fetterman, who was clearly dumbstruck by the revelation. Sort of.
Approaching reporters that had amassed, the 55-year-old senator exclaimed, “Holy s**t, I didn’t see that coming” before continuing, “Yes he was the ultimate troll and people have the opportunity to freak out and respond and if you want to do that, you better pace yourself, because it’s not even Thanksgiving. We don’t have to react and take unserious things so seriously that the world’s going to spin off its axis.”
Not content with sticking it to Gaetz, Fetterman took aim at president-elect Trump as well by adding, “I just heard something. I heard that Trump is going to issue a new silver dollar to commemorate that. So I think that’s going to be the next cycle.”
One of Fetterman’s previous political opponents, Dr. Oz, will be forming part of Trump’s government, however, after the incoming 47th president nominated the TV doctor to lead Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. And that’s not even the weirdest of Trump’s nominations, with Fox News hosts and former WWE CEO’s making up other sectors of the 78-year-old’s second reign in the White House.
