- The Washington Commanders lost their third game in a row after insane final minute against Dallas
- Austin Seibert missed extra point after Jayden Daniels had launched an 86 yard TD to Terry McLaurin
- Missed Seibert kick would have taken game into overtime
The Washington Commanders just don’t want to have a normal season, do they?
As if the Madhouse in Maryland wasn’t enough.
On Sunday, the Commanders took on the Dallas Cowboys at Northwest Stadium, hoping to reverse their fortunes after back-to-back losses against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles. What had looked like such a promising season after going 7-2 in their opening nine games was now beginning to look a lot more shaky for Washington in the NFC East.
And after the way they lost against the Cowboys on Sunday night, their season is only looking shakier as they dropped to 7-5 for the campaign.
The Commanders found themselves trailing Dallas 27-20 with just 21 seconds left on the clock. On their own 14-yard line, Washington had first-and-10 when Quarterback Jayden Daniels hauled an almighty pass to Terry McLaurin, who waltzed through the Dallas defence to score an 86-yard touchdown to bring the Commanders to within one of tying the game. But, despite the best efforts of McLaurin and the Commanders rookie phenom QB, it was all for nought, as Austin Seibert shanked the kick wide after a low snap.

As if that wasn’t enough, Washington then lined up for an onside kick, which was then returned for a TD by Juanyeh Thomas, leaving the final score at 26-34.
Heading into week 12, Seibert had not missed a single extra point all season. Here’s hoping his first doesn’t haunt him for too long, as the kicker seemed understandably disconsolate after the game, telling Scott Abraham of 7News DC “I just want to play better for my teammates. Just wasn’t striking well,” before taking full responsibility for the miss, dismissing the notion that the low snap affected his kick, “Didn’t make a difference at all. It’s on me.”
The Commanders will get the opportunity to run it back with Dallas in January, but before then, they will be hoping to return to winning ways with huge games against the Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons in a bid to make the playoffs.
