Gracie Abrams has been all over the place recently with her catchy earworms plastered all over the internet. She also recently made her Saturday Night Live debut.

She has also snagged some of the most prestigious opening spots in pop music. In addition, she counts Taylor Swift as one of her dearest pals and has a Hollywood pedigree to boast.

After smashing it performing at six shows, Abrams took to Instagram to enthuse about how she loved the experience.

“Torontoooooo, I will never ever forget those six shows. You were so loud and so generous and so kind,” she wrote in the caption of the post.

Who is Gracie Abrams, and how did she enter the public eye?

Abrams is the only daughter of J.J. Abrams and Katie McGrath. She was born in Los Angeles in 1999.

Since she first hit the scene, she has been dogged by ‘nepo baby’ allegations as her father is known for directing blockbusters such as Star Trek, Star Wars and others. He also co-created the television show Lost.

The couple also have two sons, August and Henry.

Growing up in Los Angeles, Abrams was encouraged to develop her musical talent. She apparently started writing music at age eight.

After graduating high school, she enrolled at Barnard College in New York before dropping out to focus entirely on her career.

What was her musical debut?

Abrams dropped her debut song Mean It in 2019. In 2020, she gave us her first EP Minor. This included the Benny Blanco collab I Miss You, I’m Sorry.

This Is What It Feels Like was her next EP, dropping in 2021. It featured producers as The National’s Aaron Dessner.

On the back of this, Abrams embarked on a world tour with dates in the USA and Europe. She later opened for Olivia Rodgrio on her Sour Tour.

In February 2023, she brought out her first album, Good Riddance. It peaked at 11 on the US Billboard 100 Airplay.

Abrams has since followed up with her sophomore album, The Secret of Us. The record, which landed in June of this year, contains a rare Taylor Swift collaboration titled Us. They did the first public performance of it at Wembley Arena during Swift’s first leg in London.

When did she start opening on Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour?

Abrams was one of the original lineup of support acts on the first leg of the Taylor Swift record-breaking The Eras tour. She joined a list of acts such as Haim, Sabrina Carpenter, beabadoobee and others.

After her stint with Swift, she ventured on the Good Riddance tour, her third one as the headliner.

In November last year, she snagged her first Grammy nod in the Best New Artist category. A month later, she was awarded a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 ranking.

She was later announced as the only opener on Swift’s last leg of the tour. Abrams took over from Paramore, who joined Swift on her European dates this summer.

Speaking about her friendship with the biggest pop star in the world, Abrams told Glamour this summer, “She’s so supportive, I feel like every conversation we have, I learn something… It’s a masterclass to just know her.”

She later released a bonus version. It includes the very viral That’s So True. If you haven’t seen a TikTok of the dramatic stomping it calls for, you’re missing out.

Who does she cite as her influences?

Abrams has spoken extensively about what she is inspired by in music, past and present. She has named icons such as Simon and Garfunkel, Kate Bush, Lorde, Phoebe Bridgers and many others.

Obviously, she has praised women of the moment, Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter.

“It feels like a really lucky time to be a woman in music because I have so many artists that I get to look up to,” Gracie told Glamour magazine in August. “Everyone topping the charts, it’s all chicks, and that’s really exciting. And Sabrina being number one for a million and a half years feels like it’s like only right. Love her so much.”

Where can you catch her next?

On the back on their remix Everywhere, Everything, Abrams is set to tour with Noah Kahan. Their most notable date together is her support of his upcoming July 4th headline show at BST Hyde Park.

Along with this, she is due to take her new album out on the road with The Secret of Us tour. It began in September this year in Portland. After her string of American dates, she is expected to hit Europe and later Australia and New Zealand.

Who has Gracie Abrams dated?

Abrams has been romantically linked to a string of famous men, including Hayes Bradley, Blake Statkin, and Dylan O’Brien.

Currently, she is currently grabbing headlines for her involvement with Paul Mescal. Abrams has been photographed getting cosy with the Gladiator 2 star all over the place. She’s even been pictured hanging out with his bestie and Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones.
