- Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero becomes Bandai Namco’s third-best-selling game ever.
- Peak players dropped due to multiplayer issues like rage quitting.
- Developers plan DLC and fixes to revive player excitement.

In a jaw-dropping debut, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has officially become Bandai Namco’s third best-selling game of all time.
Record-Breaking Installment
First reported by The Gamer, analyst Matt Piscatella shared on the Bluesky platform,
“After just one month in the market, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero became the best-selling Dragon Ball game in U.S. lifetime dollar sales and ranked 3rd among all Bandai Namco Entertainment published titles in history, trailing only Elden Ring and Dark Souls III.”
Since its release on October 10, 2024, DB: Sparking Zero has constantly earned these successful titles, and the sale of over 3 million copies right after the launch is living proof of its massive demand.
This eventually resulted in making it the fastest-selling installment in the Dragon Ball franchise. Fans eagerly flocked to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC to immerse themselves in this action-packed sequel.
Additionally, the game achieved an all-time peak of 122,554 concurrent players on Steam—a historic milestone for the series.
Declining Player Count
Despite all this hype and prosperity, the excitement seems to have waned, with the game’s current peak player count dropping to just 6,549.
While the exact reason is unknown, players have been facing some challenges within the multiplayer community. Previously, issues like rage quitting, unbalanced character rosters, and even cheating have been reported.
These disruptions have ruined the matches and overall gameplay, leaving fans frustrated. However, in response, developer Spike Chunsoft has introduced penalties for the rage quitters, aiming to curb the problem and restore fairness.
The team is also going to release DLC next year (2025) which may hopefully increase the player base. Still, the game’s launch marks a new era for the Dragon Ball franchise, with many players praising its dynamic battle modes.
As Bandai Namco gears up to release more content, fans are hopeful that the game will gain its initial momentum and that existing bugs will be fixed soon.
