It’s the question that is yet to be decided – who will be the next actor to play James Bond?
With Daniel Craig retiring from the role in 2021 – after a whopping five movies in 15 years – fans of the franchise are eager to find out who will be stepping into his shoes.
While the part of 007 has previously been played by the likes of Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery, it’s still unclear which actor will take over from Craig – but one rising star is moving up the ranks.
Paul Mescal is now the second favorite to take on the role of James Bond – overtaking The Gentleman star, Theo James.

According to Alex Apati of the gambling company Ladbrokes, “Paul Mescal has been the subject of a flurry of 007 bets this week.
“And it’s forced our traders to slash his odds from 3-1 to just 2-1… making him the new second-favorite in the betting.”
While Mescal may have almost reached the top, knocking James down a notch at 7-2, he is still behind frontrunner Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who remains the bookies’ favourite at Evens.
Mescal has joined many other famous faces in the race to be named 007.
James Norton is currently sitting at 7-1, Callum Turner and Lucien Laviscount on 8-1 and Jack Lowden on 9-1. Additionally, Damson Idris, Regé-Jean page and Henry Cavill are all on 10-1.
Mescal’s other roles
As fans of Mescal are sure to want him to land the part of Bond, they may be intrigued to learn of some of his other movie roles.
In his feature debut, Mescal starred opposite Olivia Colman and Dakota Johnson in The Lost Daughter, while his role in Aftersun saw him nominated for an Oscar.
This year, the Irish actor co-starred with Andrew Scott in All of Us Strangers, and he appeared last year with Saoirse Ronan in Foe.
