Henry Cavill has given an update on the much-anticipated Warhammer 40,000 TV series, saying that the starting place for the show has been agreed.

Start place agreed

Prime Video first announced that a series based on the hugely popular table-top game Warhammer 40,000 was in development in 2022, with Henry Cavill on board to star in it, as well as executive produce. Amazon had acquired the global rights to the IP from Games Workshop – both companies are involved in the series.

While there have been few updates since, work has been ongoing to develop the show and it appears Cavill has had an active role in it.

In a post on Instagram, Cavil said: “My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world. Together, we’ve been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts. Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop. That starting place shall, for now, remain a secret.  Watch this space though – more to come in time!

Moving forward

The post by Cavill – a long-time fan of the game – shows that progress is being made. Amazon and Games Workshop had previously set a deadline of this month for the companies to agree on a set of creative guidelines for the franchise, according to Variety. If this isn’t met, the project would be scrapped.

So it would appear that the show will move forward, but it will still be a long time before the show makes it to screens. Production hasn’t begun and no dates have been announced yet.

Meanwhile Cavill is working on another project based on a beloved franchise. He is set to star in the Voltron movie, based on the animated show from the 1980s. Filming is expected to begin on this next year.
