Castings for Jimmy Olsen and Eve Teschmacher have been announced for the upcoming Superman: Legacy movie by director James Gunn.
Jimmy Olsen – a young photojournalist at the Daily Planet who regularly works with Lois Lane and Clark Kent – will be played by Skyler Gisondo, Gunn confirmed. Gisondo, 27, is best known for appearing in films such as Licorice Pizza and TV shows including The Righteous Gemstones and Santa Clarita Diet.

Meanwhile Eve Teschmacher – a character created for the 1978 Superman as Lex Luthor’s assistant – will be played by Sara Sampaio, who is best known for her modelling work, including for Victoria’s Secret, and appearing in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue in 2014.
Sampaio and Gisondo are the latest names to be announced for the film. They join David Corenswet, who is portraying the titular hero, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Also confirmed stars of the film include Edi Gathegi as Mr Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho and Maria Gabriela de Faria as the Engineer.
The role of Superman’s nemesis, Lex Luthor, remains unconfirmed but British actor Nicholas Hoult – who played Beast in the X-Men films from 2011-19 – is reportedly in talks to play the role.
Filming is set to begin in January 2024, so this role, and others, will no doubt be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Superman: Legacy is slated to open on July 11, 2025.
