The speculation is over – Rockstar Games has finally dropped its first official Grand Theft Auto VI trailer. The games company has confirmed some details of what will be in the game – but many questions remain unanswered and new ones have been posed.

Firstly, we now know the game will come out in 2025 – although not exactly when – so gamers still have a long time to wait to get their hands on it. We also know it will be set in Vice City, again. The game will be released on the Playstation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X/S – but there was no mention of a PC launch, which is consistent with previous games, which have been launched on console before coming to PC later.

Also, for the first time, GTA6 will have two main protagonists, with one being female. Lucia was featured heavily in the trailer, sharing a bond with the yet-to-be-officially-named male protagonist. Lucia is seen in prison clothing, hinting at a background of trouble with the law.

The setting will be Vice City, but in modern day – when it was originally seen, it was set in 1986, so it will be interesting to see how the city has developed over what will be nigh-on 40 years in the game. There are also indications that the game will go beyond the confines of the city, much as Rockstar has previously with Los Santos.

Rockstar released the trailer a day earlier than trailed to counter the prospect of leaks.

So now we know some things about GTA6, but, as ever, it only poses more questions. Hopefully some of these will be answered in time when Rockstar drops its next trailer. When the next one hasn’t been confirmed yet, but all fans will be glued to the usual channels for when it does come.
