- Bob Dylan defined the New York City folk scene of the 60s
- Timothee Chalamet played him in A Complete Unknown
- The actor shone a light on his lesser-known songs on SNL

Bob Dylan has returned to the chart after Timothee Chalamet performed some of his lesser-known songs on Saturday Night Live.
After he decided to be both the host and performer, Chalamet opted to sing the hidden hit Tomorrow Is a Long Time. The 1963 song entered the iTunes Top 100 chart. The song doesn’t pop up in the James Mangold-directed A Complete Unknown, where the actor plays the folk legend.
The eight-time Oscar-nominated biopic covers Dylan’s arrival to the West Village’s folk scene in 1961 and his controversial decision to go electric in 1965.

What did Timothee Chalamet say about the songs he performed on SNL?
Fresh off his Oscar nod for Best Actor, Chalamet appeared on the NBC classic. During his opening monologue, he addressed how he would be the host and the musical guest to perform some less popular Dylan tunes.
Of the choices, Chalamet said, “You might not know the Bob Dylan songs I’m performing, but they’re my personal favourites. I’m so grateful Saturday Night Live is still doing weird stuff like this 50 years in. They’re either really nice for letting me do this or incredibly mean and this is all a big prank.
What has Bob Dylan said about Timothee Chalamet’s performance in A Complete Unknown?
Dylan made a rare statement on X to praise Chalamet’s depiction of him in the film, which also stars Edward Norton, Elle Fanning and Monica Barbaro.
“There is a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!). Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me,” the singer posted.

The Blowin’ In The Wind hitmaker also urged everyone to read the Elijah Wald tome Dylan Goes Electric, the source material for the film.
Dylan wrote, “It’s a fantastic retelling of events from the early ‘60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport. After you’ve seen the movie read the book.”
In response, Chalamet wrote on X that he was “floored” and “so grateful” for the review.
