Everything’s falling into place for the final outing of Stranger Things later this year. Filming’s wrapped, we know what the episode titles are and the release date might have leaked.

Of course, a show is nothing without its cast. Stranger Things has kept audiences hooked with the adventures of a lovable group of friends and the main cast has expanded a lot as seasons go by.

There’s plenty of room for them too. The Duffer Brothers previously teased that we’re in for a supersized final season – not surprising, maybe, when the season four finale was two and a half hours long. In fact, they compared the eight episodes to “eight movies”.

So, who will we see in season five? And who’s joining the cast?

New cast members for season five

We’ll encounter several new characters in the final instalment of Stranger Things, which is set in fall 1987.

The first new cast member was confirmed in 2023 to be Linda Hamilton, known for her roles in The Terminator, Children of the Corn and Chuck.

“I don’t know how to be a fangirl and an actress at the same time,” she said during her video announcement at Netflix’s global Tudum fan event. “I’m gonna work on that.”

Of the three other new additions to the cast, two are children. Nell Fisher will play Holly Wheeler, Mike and Nancy’s younger sister who, scarily, was barely a toddler in the early seasons. Newcomer Jake Connelly also joins the cast, as does Alex Breaux.

Fans can expect lots of familiar faces to return for Stranger Things’ final season, including Brown as Eleven, Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers and Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair.

Sadie Sink’s Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer’s Nany Wheeler, Charlie Heaton’s Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington and Hawke’s Robin Buckley and Priah Ferguson’s Eric Sinclair are also back, as are Winona Ryder’s Joyce Byers, Harbour’s Hopper and Brett Gelman’s Murray Bauman.

Meanwhile, Jamie Campbell Bower will return as Vecna, alongside Cara Buono’s Karen Wheeler and Amybeth McNulty as Vickie.
