Overwatch 2 fans get ready for a significant change with the Season 15, Blizzard announced the removal of the Clash game mode. Although this mode has been good, still the decision is made by considering the complaints from players about issues with the mode.

Blizzard Removes Clash Mode from Competitive Play

Season 14 is still going on, but Blizzard has already geared up for the next season and is preparing for future updates, including the thrilling event on February 12. In the detailed blog post, Aron Keller stated the reason,

“Speaking of game modes, we want to take a moment to consider what to expect for Clash in Quick Play and Competitive. This past year, we introduced Clash, which was inspired by the original Assault maps but gave players a chance to attack and defend throughout the course of the match.

Clash has had some really good matches, but we’ve also seen a lot of constructive feedback. Right now, Clash has a few problems, with some matches having a team steamroll and ending much faster than a typical Overwatch game.  It can also be confusing as to which point is active for some players.

So starting in Season 15, Clash maps are going to be removed from Competitive Play as we take the time to look at these maps and work to find ways to deliver the best Competitive experience for all of our players. We’ll keep you updated on the progress we make there. In the meantime, we are going to keep Clash in Quick Play and other unranked game modes.”

Blizzard Responds to Rising Competition with Major Update

The good part is that Clash is not being removed from the game entirely. Players can still access it in the quick play and other modes. But why such sudden changes? Overwatch 2 has a tough competitor, Marvel Rivals, which earned enough popularity in a short span of time.

This Free-to-Play shooter game has gained players’ attention, and even Marvel Rivals fans and OW2 fans had a comparison battle in previous days. The competitor game is using stunning strategies to maintain its fan base.

Now, to keep the fans engaged and their interest in Overwatch 2, Blizzard has planned a special spotlight event on February 12, where they will reveal new heroes, maps, and PvP changes. Aaron said,

“2024 was a huge year, but I know 2025 is going to be even bigger, and I can’t wait for the team to share more in Overwatch 2 Spotlight on February 12”
