- Rockstar confirms GTA 6 will launch on PC after consoles
- Past GTA games show delays of up to two years for PC
- Take-Two prioritizes consoles due to higher initial sales

PC gamers waiting for the news regarding GTA 6 launch need to hold their horses, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently addressed this, confirming that skipping PC at launch is simply “business as usual” for Rockstar.
PC Players Left Waiting Again!
As per tradition Rockstar is going to follow the strategy of launching PC version after some time. One of the most anticipated games, GTA 6, is set to release on consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in late 2025.
The reason behind prioritizing this platform over others is that games like GTA generate more sales from console purchases. Despite the fact that PC gamers have grown in number, as per Rockstar, GTA players prefer consoles when it comes to their titles.
While speaking to IGN, Zelnick also mentioned that the “PC version of a multiplatform game can generate 40% of overall sales, or even more with certain games.”
Rockstar’s Strategy: History Repeats Itself
This strategy aligns with Rockstar’s history. Looking at past GTA releases, PC players have always had to wait:
- GTA, November 28, 1997 (Console), November 28, 1997 (PC), No console to PC gap
- GTA 2 October 22, 1999 (October 22, 1999), October 22, 1999 (PC), No console to PC gap
- GTA 3 – October 23, 2001 (PS2), May 20, 2002 (PC), 6 months and 27 days console to PC gap
- GTA: Vice City – October 29, 2002 (PS2), May 12, 2003 (PC), 6 months and 13 days console to PC gap
- GTA: San Andreas – October 26, 2004 (PS2), June 7, 2005 (PC), 7 months and 12 days console to PC gap
- GTA 4 – April 29, 2008 (PS3, Xbox 360), December 2, 2008 (PC), 7 months and 3 days console to PC gap
- GTA 5 – September 17, 2013 (PS3, Xbox 360), April 14, 2015 (PC), 1 year, 6 months, and 28 days console to PC gap
- GTA 6 – Late 2025 (Console), TBA (PC), TBA console to PC gap
Rockstar’s Money Move: Consoles First, PC Later
These stats show a clear pattern of Rockstar’s releases, considering that players will have to wait till 2026, or it can even extend to 2027. Still, some fans are hoping that the game may launch across all platforms at the same time, as happened with Civilization 7.
However, the company has different plans focusing on generating revenue. When it comes to GTA games, it is quite obvious that the game will bring massive amounts of money to homes due to its hype and popularity.
It has an amazing fan base and potential buyers.Zelnick stated, “With regard to others in our lineup, we don’t always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”
Big AAA titles like GTA 6 often push more gamers to buy new consoles, which benefits both the creator and gaming device creators. Although GTA 6 isn’t likely to get launched on PC right away, players must not lose hope and stay patient as it will arrive eventually.
