- Rockstar is exploring user-generated content (UGC) for GTA 6
- Meetings with Fortnite & Roblox creators hint at major UGC plans
- PC release might come sooner than expected to support UGC

Finally, GTA 6 fans are getting to hear about the game through officials, an exciting news for them has arrived, as per recent reports Rockstar Games is expected to include the user-generated content (UGC) in the upcoming GTA title.
GTA 6 & UGC: A Game-Changer for Players
Undoubtedly, creativity has always been one of the biggest forms of amusement, and if this is true, then it will allow creators to shape the game’s online mode in the way they desire.
User-generated content means players can create and share their own modifications within a game. However, many developers have already introduced this fun element in their titles, like Roblox, The Sims Series, Super Mario Maker Series, Fortnite, PUBG Mobile WOW mode, and other games where UGC has become a massive success.
It allows players or users to customize the maps, come up with entirely new and unique content, and anything that brings variety to the game, adding more excitement to the gaming experience.
Now, what kind of UGC can be brought in GTA 6? Maybe the customized missions, player-made cities and environments, modded weapons, and custom vehicles can be something more intriguing.
According to a report from DigiDay, Rockstar has been meeting with Fortnite, Roblox, and GTA creators to discuss UGC in GTA 6. For now, these are just initial conversations highlighting Rockstar’s interest in content created by the players.
Besides this, fans have started speculating if this is going to benefit both sides, developers, and creators, offering some revenue to the creators; this will motivate fans to take part and put in their effort to come up with new content.
However, UGC is eventually going to give an edge to the developers as, due to countless missions, modes, and other engaging content, players are going to stick to the game for years, and they won’t have to rely solely on Rockstar’s updates.
How UGC Could Shape GTA 6’s Metaverse Future
Let’s not forget that this isn’t Rockstar’s first step toward bringing the UGC into their games; they bought CFX.RE, a company which crafted roleplaying servers for GTA 5 Online and Red Dead Online.
Now Rockstar is back at it again and Industry experts believe this move could establish GTA 6 as a major player in the evolving “metaverse“. Pete Basgen, gaming and Esports lead at Wavemaker Global, said (Via Digiday): “It is my firm belief that the reason that they purchased FiveM is exactly that — to spin up a metaverse universe of custom-built experiences, and potentially UGC items, with an attached UGC creator economy.
It will essentially occupy that adult-enumerated space at the top of the ecosystem; there’s a very natural place there for people that graduate from Roblox and Minecraft.” Furthermore, Chad Mustard, COO of UGC gaming studio JOGO, stated:
“If Rockstar embraces UGC, it’s a game-changer, plain and simple. The demand for creator-driven experiences is already massive, and this could unlock unprecedented opportunities for studios like ours.
The economics are proven, the audience is there, and we’re ready to build. This is the moment GTA creators have been waiting for.” This move can be quite beneficial for the game and developer, and GTA 6 can turn into an exceptional metaverse.
Another rumor has sparked more thrill, suggesting that GTA 6 might be released sooner on PC than it was mentioned earlier that the game is currently released on consoles, while PC launch may take time, maybe maybe months or a whole year.
Since UGC thrives on PC platforms, releasing the game early on PC could help Rockstar expand its UGC community quickly. Although GTA 6 is expected to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in Fall 2025, some reports suggest that the PC version could hit shelves in early 2026.
