Fans of The Punisher have a treat in store – Marvel’s vigilante is getting his own one-shot special coming after season one of Daredevil: Born Again.
Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher in the special, which he is also co-writing alongside We Own The City director Reinaldo Marcus Green, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Marvel’s head of television, Brad Winderbaum, was enthusiastic about the special. “It’s like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story,” he said to EW. “It’s so exciting.”

Winderbaum also praised Bernthal. “He’s incredible what be brings to all the roles he plays, but particularly Frank Castle,” he said. “And he’s a great writer. He knows the character inside out. Also, I love Punisher, but I love Jon’s Punisher in particular. The idea that he’s in the MCU and can bring that to the greater universe, especially the more grounded street-level stuff, is a huge opportunity and, as a fan, the greatest thing ever.”
However, no more details about the special, such as what the plot would be or when it will hit our screens. However, it is likely that the one-shot will be released before season two of Daredevil: Born Again airs. The second season of that is already underway, with filming set to begin in the next couple of months.
The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again
This news comes ahead of DareDevil: Born Again debuting on Disney+ next week, in which the Punisher will appear.
This new series is the first Daredevil series since the show ended its run on Netflix. There was also a Punisher spinoff series on Netflix that ran for two seasons from 2017-19.
Bernthal is one of many actors reprising their role in this continuation series. Charles Cox will reprise his role as Matt Murdock – a sight-impaired lawyer who spends his nights prowling the rough streets of Hell’s Kitchen as the Daredevil.
In addition, Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as the villainous Wilson Fisk AKA the Kingpin along with Murdock’s co-workers Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Moll as Karen Page. Here is everything we know about Daredevil: Born Again.
