Gypsy-Rose Blanchard has said that she would like Stranger Things actress Millie Bobbie Brown to player her, if a film is made of her life.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Gypsy-Rose, who has recently been released from prison after serving time for the second-degree murder of her mother, said Brown would be her preference.
Gypsy-Rose has become infamous in the US, when she was convicted of murdering her mother, Dee Dee, with her then boyfriend.
But it isn’t just the murder that brought her to national attention, rather the circumstances that led up to the act. Gypsy-Rose experienced years of abuse at the hands of Dee Dee, who had Factitious disorder imposed on another, which was formerly known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Dee Dee convinced Gypsy-Rose – and others – that she was ill, to the extent that the latter underwent medical procedures that she didn’t need, including having a feeding tube to eat being inserted. Her mother also convinced her she was 15 years old, whereas she was really 21.
The abuse only stopped when Gypsy-Rose, along with her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, murdered Dee Dee. Gypsy-Rose pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, although she was released two years early in December 2023.
Since her release, Gypsy-Rose’s has had a relatively high profile, having been active on social media and taking part in several interviews.
A series documenting Gypsy-Rose’s case, called The Act, was screen in 2019, with Joey King playing her. However, Gypsy-Rose hasn’t mentioned King, her performance or reprising the role should be film be made, in any interviews yet.
Brown has not publicly responded to Gypsy-Rose’s comments. She is believed to be concentrating on filming the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
