- Twitch will allow all streamers to monetize from day one
- New tools will enhance collaborations and brand partnerships
- Video storage will be limited to 100 hours per channel

Twitch has announced some significant changes for this year, making it more accessible for both streamers and viewers. Streams are quite excited to know about the platform’s plan to make monetization easier, allowing them to earn more money without meeting strict requirements.
Monetization for Everyone – No More Waiting to Earn
Moreover, Twitch also aims to bring new features that will eventually enhance the collaborations, engagement, and overall experience. Twitch shared a detailed blog post in which Dan Clancy mentioned that,
“As we head into 2025, our goal continues to be to make Twitch the absolute best place for our streamers, and also, an exciting place for new creators and viewers to build and find their communities.
We’ll continue to focus on expanding our user base and introducing more people to livestreaming, as well as the critical and important work of supporting those who have already found a home here.”
The monetization will be available for everyone, from old Twitch users to new ones, all streamers will be able to make money through the platform without waiting for months.
Currently, only Twitch Affiliates and Partners can earn money through subscriptions and Bits (Twitch’s virtual currency that fans use to support their favorite streamers).
To attain this status, these streamers have to meet certain criteria like gaining 50 followers, streaming for at least 8 hours per week, and more. But after the alterations, players won’t have to go through this all.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy named it as “unlocking monetization for everyone,” mentioned that: ” We want you to be able to take advantage of our monetization tools, whether you’re just getting your community started, or have been on Twitch for a while.
In 2025, we’re excited to open up monetization tools—subscriptions and bits—to most streamers, from day one. This will allow creators, regardless of their status, to grow their communities and start building earnings through direct patronage. We’re also introducing an option, which will allow all streamers to use their earnings on purchases within Twitch. “
While new streamers are happy to know that they won’t have to grind for so long, others, especially the old streams are disappointed that the status they gained after tons of efforts will now be easily achievable.
New Features & Limitations – Exciting Tools, But a Storage Cap
The team is also working to make the collaborations more easy for streamers. Dan said, “The tools we’re building are designed to make it easier to stream with a friend or bring more people into the conversation, without a ton of planning and prep work.”
We are working on features to help you earn more money while collaborating. In particular, we will be launching Shared Hype Trains for people using Stream Together or Shared Chat, and will be exploring other monetization features that can be used when you are collaborating to drive more revenue, like shared sub goals.”
Another important update is Twitch’s effort to connect streamers with brands. The new tool will let streamers or creators let brands know about their interest, and a feature will also help them to explore the channels for partnership.
A new tool will help creators express interest in working with brands, and Twitch will also introduce a feature to help brands discover channels for partnerships. On top of this, streamers will soon be able to offer special discounts and promotions during events to encourage more engagement.
Further, Dan stated, “We will be launching more sitewide promotions and discounts throughout the year to give creators more chances to earn and bring their communities together.
We also will be exploring features that will allow streamers to offer discounts and promotions just on their streams during special events.” Besides this all Twitch will also be improving the mobile experience, soon be supporting vertical and landscape videos and viewers will also be able to react in stream using bits.
And with “Power-ups” feature will be able to have more exciting chat. One downside to Twitch’s upcoming changes is the new content storage policy. The video storage will be limited to 100 hours per channel, effective from 19 April 2025.
Twitch’s 2025 plan seems solid, and streamers are thrilled to know it, yet some are also raising concerns regarding seeing ads on every creator’s stream. Now it’s all on the team how decisions will be taken to benefit both viewers and content creators.
