A 75-year-old man from Maine man has been sentenced to three years in prison for the illegal possession of more than 850 firearms.

Dario Giambro was found guilty by a jury after a two-day trial in Portland of being a felon in possession of 856 firearms in October 2023, but sentencing has only just been passed.

When Maine State police searched Gaimbro’s home in January 2022, they found an arsenal of weaponry stashed there including shotguns, pistols, revolvers, and rifles, as well as stacks of ammunition for them.

The problem for Giambro is that he was already banned from owning firearms, thanks to a prior conviction for possessing an unregistered firearm.

In addition to his three-year sentence, Giambro has been fined $250,000.
