- Chappell Roan shot to fame in 2024
- And after already winning a Grammy award this year, the singer has now treated fans to her first country song
- The Giver was released on March 13

Chappell Roan had a bumper 2024 – and the singer isn’t stopping down this year.
Scooping up the Best New Artist award at the Grammys, the Good Luck, Babe! Hitmaker released her latest track, The Giver, on March 13.
In an Instagram post to her fans, Roan, 27, wrote, “I love this song so much and it’s been such a fun rollout to see the bus benches and billboards and posters and tear-offs wow I am so excited for all of it to come to life! Eeeee!!!!”
“It is def a bold and scary move to release a full a** country song after only releasing one song last year and it having such a success in the pop genre… (like I am very scared as I type this lol),” she continued. “But I think that’s the entire point of Chappell Roan. Be bold and scary and have fun. The whole point of this is to be silly!!!”
Of those fans who may not be as into country music as they are pop, Roan had some words of advice.
“Country music is fire. It’s the campiest of camp,” she added. “Some of you may be new to the country scene and not quite sure what to make of me having a fiddle and banjo in my song.
“Understandable boo. It is something different and sometimes different can feel bad because it’s unfamiliar, but I encourage you to give her another shot.”

Luckily, it appears that Roan’s gamble with The Giver has paid off – with fans claiming that the singer is “actually allergic to making bad music”.
“Who else is listening to Chappell Roan and twirling around in their room right now,” asked one, while another added, “I love how Chappell Roan does just whatever she wants and is automatically good at it like… you will not catch me listening to country unless it comes to Miss Roan.”
Someone else continued, “The new Chappell Roan song is a HITTT she’s probably one of the most promising pop acts of the 2020s.”
A fourth went on, “God I love that f***ing fiddle. I love live instrumentation. I love the high note. I love Chappell Roan and [producer] Dan Nigro!”

Even those who aren’t country fans at heart couldn’t help but be impressed.
“Chappell really cooked with The Giver omfg,” one said. “I don’t like country but this song is FIRE. I hope she has a MV ready for this cuz it deserves it for real.”
Fans question why the bridge lyrics have been removed in The Giver

However, some fans couldn’t help but notice that Roan has removed part of the song.
When she debuted the track on SNL back in November, Roan wowed viewers with a spoken word part over the bridge of the song.
“The Giver still slaps but I feel like I’ve lost a family member with this verse missing,” one joked, while another questioned, “So why exactly did Chappell take out the bridge in The Giver??”
Someone else went on, “Rest in peace Chappell Roan lesbian supremacy The Giver speech we will remember u forever.”
Another mused that the lyrics would have been too much of a talking point.
“‘Only a woman knows how to treat a woman right’ didn’t make it to the final cut of The Giver because Chappell knew it would start endless discourse and 8518 articles would be written about it,” they said.
However, Roan herself has now cleared up what happened – and it sounds like fans are in for a treat.
“We tried a lot of different things for the bridge, but it was so f***ing annoying, nothing was working,” she explained via Discord. “So I left it blank because I have a surprise for when I do it live.” Cryptic…
