Lipton Peach Ice Tea is here to stay! On 18 March, tea company Lipton announced they were discontinuing their Peach Ice Tea flavor without an explanation. Lovers of the drink were shocked since the peach flavor seemed to be everyone’s favorite. However, their previously dead peach ice tea has been revived as the result of an early April Fool’s joke. Surprisingly, it wasn’t a strategic marketing campaign like the Duolingo owl’s staged death, but it worked!

The internet was in hysterics about the abrupt decision to axe the drink. 24 hours after they broke the hearts of many, Lipton confirmed the drink was here to stay in another social media post.
On Instagram, they wrote: “Did you really think she was going anywhere?? #liptonicetea #AprilFools”.
Us and thousands of others! They posted a picture of a can of Peach Ice Tea with a glowing light around it with the slogan, “Peach is here to stay!”
In their statement, Lipton said: “Oops, is it still March? Got my dates mixed up…thought it was April Fool’s already! I’d never take away your favorite flavor, pookies.”
Weirdly, they concluded by saying they noticed the love from fans of the flavor and would be “sending a surprise to the biggest fans with the best reactions.”

How did the internet react to the return of Peach Ice Tea?
The internet collectively breathed a sigh of relief at the flavor’s return. However, not everyone was impressed with the marketing.
One user on Instagram wrote in the comments of the return post, “Can we not with this new marketing strategy, it’s annoying 😞.”

While others showed how dedicated they were, with one user even emailing the Prime Minister about the catastrophe.

Actor and internet personality Sam Cornforth declared he had bought “345 cases of 12” because of the discontinuation. He offered some ice tea to people in the comments.

Meanwhile, another account said they and their friends were “devastated” by the short loss of the peach flavor.

A rival ice tea company chimes in
Rival ice tea brand Arizona Tea even chimed in and commented on the post, “This is why people have trust issues.”

Although Lipton did not respond, they thanked fans in the comments and wrote, “Thank you for all the 💛🍑”.
