We’re soon going back to the John Wick universe with the spin-off Ballerina – and a new trailer has offered a taste of the new instalment.

If this trailer’s anything to go by, it could be a gory one. Keanu Reeves is also back as John Wick and appears in a fierce stand-off with Eve Macarro.

For the uninitiated, Eve is a Russian ballerina turned assassin seeking vengeance against the men who killed her family. We first encountered her in John Wick 3: Parabellum and the new film is set slightly after that, but before the fourth film.

One key difference is the actress playing her. Ana de Armas has taken over the role in place of Unity Phelan.

Check out the trailer below:

What else do we know about Ballerina?

In the film, we’ll follow Eve as she is “beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.” She’s out for revenge after her father was murdered.

She’ll be joined by McShane’s Winston, Huston as her trainer The Director and the late Lance Reddick as Charon. Charon played a key role as the concierge of The Continental in the wider John Wick universe. Ballerina will mark Charon’s final on-screen appearance after Reddick sadly passed away in 2023.

These familiar faces will be joined by Gabriel Byrne as the movie’s big-bad – a character known as The Chancellor. The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus will play a mysterious new character known as Daniel Pine.

Sharon Duncan-Brewster and David Castañeda are also set to appear.

Elsewhere, it seems like we’ll catch Wick while he’s still a global enemy of the sinister assassin organisation known as the High Table.

Those who have seen the full John Wick franchise will know why it would be difficult for the character to appear in any other way

When will the film be out?

You can catch Ballerina in theaters from 6 June.

Will there be any more John Wick films beyond this one?

It looked unlikely at one point, but it turns out John Wick 5 is in the works.

A fifth installment of the neo-noir action thriller franchise has been confirmed by a studio executive Jenefer Brown at Lionsgate. While this is exciting news for fans, it doesn’t necessarily mean Reeves will be making a comeback as the beloved assassin.

Speaking with Comic Book, Brown said of the franchise’s future: “This world continues to grow and expand in incredible ways. Up next, of course, we have Ballerina, which is our first spin-off movie and [we] can’t wait for that to release to the world. Of course, we’ve announced we’re working on a fifth John Wick film. I think there are more spinoffs to come, a TV series, video game.”

Brown didn’t reveal what a fifth movie meant for the John Wick character, adding “We’ve shared that we’re developing a fifth John Wick film … [J

Keanu Reeves seemingly shut down any talks about another John Wick movie recently, stating on Extra TV, “You know, the character’s dead. He died in John Wick: Chapter 4.”
