Jennifer Coolidge has been eagerly watching The White Lotus’ third season like the rest of us – and she’s hoping her character Tanya’s death gets avenged.
Coolidge played the misery-stricken heiress during the HBO series’ first two seasons in Hawaii and Sicily. She died at the end of season two, accidentally falling from a yacht while trying to survive husband Greg (John Gries) and Quentin’s (Tom Hollander) attempt on her life.

“I don’t have a take on this. No one is giving me any information about how this is gonna go down,” she told Deadline. “I mean, I’m praying there’s some justice for Tanya. You know, Greg was a creep. He needs to go down. But I just think it continues to be really interesting, really dark and then we all have to talk about it afterwards. I think it’s a really good sign.”
“I just think [Mike White] is a genius”
“I was just saying to someone today that Mike White continues to surprise me, and all this stuff that’s happened so far — I won’t spoil it, I know people are catching up, so I won’t spoil it — Mike White has no apologies, he goes for what he wants to do. He doesn’t check with anyone else. He writes a story that he wants to tell, and I just think he’s a genius,” she added.
“You know how I know he’s a genius? Because I get phone calls from friends that all wanna watch the weekly episodes,” explained Coolidge. “I don’t really have that, I can’t think of another show where people are calling me up and going like, ‘We all have to watch this.’ I mean, I was in White Lotus, of course, before that terrible thing happened. But what I’m saying is, people like to get together and watch it. I think that’s so cool.
“I have a house in New Orleans and my New Orleans friends always want to get together and watch it. And here in LA, people want to watch it, and I think that speaks to Mike White. He writes this really interesting stuff, and the characters this year are really good, and it’s got some really dark creepy stuff.”
Could Greg get his comeuppance?
Justice for Greg might be on the horizon if the plot so far is anything to go by.
Returning character Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), who Tanya interacted with in Hawaii, seems to have cottoned on to him.
Greg made a surprise return early in the season. Even though Greg is at the Thailand resort under the alias of ‘Gary’, Belinda has recognised him and is trying to find out what happened.

Since the third season began airing, fans of the show have had plenty to say about the latest cast’s escapades in Thailand.

There’s been particular enthusiasm for Parker Posey’s Southern accent, while the new theme tune has proved divisive.
There has also been controversy over the age-gap relationship between Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) and Rick (Walter Goggins) and the hints at incest between brothers Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola) Ratliff.
