Rachel Zegler is one of Hollywood’s brightest new stars. She might have taken on her biggest – and most controversial – role to date in Snow White, but she’s already garnered plenty of big screen experience.

The 23-year-old has already been in some major films and has had some big-ticket theater gigs on her resume too.

So where else might you recognise her from?

West Side Story

Zegler fought off thousands of hopefuls to be cast as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 adaptation of the classic musical.

Aged just 16, she sent in a self-tape of her performing two of the musical’s most iconic songs, Tonight and I Feel Pretty. She won the role ahead of 30,000 others.

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods

In 2023, Zegler was part of the DC world. She starred in this Shazam! sequel as Anthea, the youngest daughter of Atlas, who has space manipulation abilities.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Zegler also appeared in the first Hunger Games prequel as Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from District 12 during the 10th annual event in the early days of Panem.

Though the film received mixed reviews in general, Zegler still received plenty of praise for her performance.

The actress then appeared in a slightly wackier film. Released last year, the sci-fi horror comedy follows a group of high school students trying to survive when the year 2000 problem brings all technology worldwide to life. Zegler played the role of Laura.

The film wasn’t massively successful, making a large loss and receiving mixed reviews.

Romeo and Juliet

A run of the classic Shakespearean tragedy on Broadway made headlines for its big-name cast. Zegler starred as Juliet opposite Heartstopper’s Kit Connor as Romeo.

The play brought a slew of younger audience members to see Connor and Zegler in a more modern adaptation of the play. Fittingly, Zegler’s role in West Side Story may have been good preparation given that story is based on Romeo and Juliet.

Later this year, Zegler will be returning to the theater. She will make her West End debut in a new production of Evita.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical will run from June to September 2025 at The London Palladium.

Lloyd Webber described Zegler a “phenomenal talent” who will “blow the roof off the” theatre, according to Deadline.
