Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are the hot topic of the moment.
After news broke this week that Sweeney, 27, has called off her engagement and upcoming May nuptials to fiancé Jonathan Davino, 41, rumors began swirling from fans that she is secretly dating Powell, 36.
The pair had been co-stars in the 2023 romantic-comedy, Anyone But You.
The whispers continued when Euphoria star Sweeney attended the wedding of Powell’s sister Leslie, in late March.
While we all love a good friends-to-lovers narrative, someone else has now weighed in on the rumors – Powell’s mother, Cyndy.
And, sadly, she’s poured cold water on our hopes (boo).
In an interview with MailOnline, Cyndy said, “They’re definitely not together. It was just, like, she was there [at the wedding] with her friend.”
According to Cyndy, Sweeney is “really close friends” with the whole Powell family – in particular his sister Leslie, a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter.

Cyndy went on to brand the rumors as “silly” and insisted there is “nothing going on behind closed doors” between them.
“He’s the kindest person, and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend,” she went on.
“They’ve been friends for so long. They’ve known each other for so long and they’ve both been single and together and with other people.
“They could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point. But he’s got so many friends that care about him and he cares about, and he’s got a really nice group of friends that they kind of take care of each other. It’s really nice.”

While some mothers may be queuing up for their sons to date such an accomplished actor as Sweeney, Cyndy firmly said that it is “none of my business” whether or not she would like the friends to date.
“I just want what’s best for everybody,” she went on.
Cyndy went on to talk about the kind of person she would want Powell – who has previously dated Nina Dobrev and Gigi Paris – to settle down with.
“I just want somebody that loves him unconditionally and he loves unconditionally, and they take care of each other and live happily ever after,” she explained.
But of that fairytale ended, Cyndy continued, “He’s too busy right now. But he’s a family man. He wants a family and he wants his happily ever after. It’s just not right now.”
Speaking about Sweeney, Cyndy added, “We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend. We all were together so much, and we haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.”
