With early reports indicating the movie is set to be a smash-hit on its opening weekend, fans might already be wondering if a sequel is in the works. If the post-credits scene is anything to go by, there’s definitely reason to believe that’s the case.

Spoiler Alert.

When do the credit scenes for A Minecraft Movie appear?

The first scene starts shortly after the credits begin, offering a satisfying payoff to a running joke in the film.

The second appears after the credits have fully rolled, so you’ll need to stay until the theater lights come on to catch it.

Read on if you’d like the details of the scenes, but if you’d rather enjoy the surprise on the big screen, look away now!

What happens in the mid-credits scene?

It picks up the quirky love story between Marlene (Jennifer Coolidge) and the Villager she accidentally hits with her car. During the film, the Villager, named Nitwit, and Marlene go on a pleasant dinner date. Nitwit doesn’t speak, but things still seem to go well.

The mid-credit scene, however, reveals that the square-headed Villager is now living with Marlene and can speak like a human, thanks to the unmistakable voice of Matt Berry. Even more surprising, Marlene can now speak Villager too. Nitwit declares that their love has “transcended the barriers of conventional speech” before proposing to Marlene, who responds with, “Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.”

What happens in the post-credit scene?

Steve returns from The Overworld to the house he abandoned, only to find it sold and occupied by someone else. He knocks on the door, and the new occupant, a woman with red hair and a green shirt, greets him, but keeps her back to the camera. She invites him in and introduces herself, saying, “You wanna come in? I’m Alex, by the way.” She asks if he’s come back because of the old chest he left in the attic.

Minecraft players will recognize Alex as a reference to one of the game’s default player skins. She was the second to be introduced after Steve.

She is played by Alice May Connolly. If a sequel does happen, recasting will be an easy feat considering her face was hidden. And the chest in the attic? Surely a teaser of a new adventure.
