The third season of The White Lotus came to a bullet riddled end last night and one star in particular was wrought with emotion over a finale featuring a fair amount of heartbreak.

“We’ll Always Have Thailand”
Mike White brought the curtain down on season three of the luxury resort based, millionaire murder drama, last night, dividing fans in the process. However, one person who loved every minute of the White Lotus season three experience, was perhaps its most magnetic performer, Walton Goggins.
Shortly after the eighth and final episode aired on HBO last night (April 6), Goggins, who played the childhood trauma-ridden Rick Hatchett, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post, paying tribute to series creator Mike White and the love story that was crafted between Rick and Chelsea (played by the wonderful Aimee-Lou Wood).
Goggins thanked the entire cast and crew, with a special shoutout reserved for Sam Rockwell, who played Rick’s sober-then not sober-sexually awakened best friend Frank.
Alongside a series of stills from the final episode and some behind the scenes shot from Thailand in general, Goggins wrote, “Rick + Chelsea. With the heaviest of hearts… To me, ours was a love story. It was only ever a love story, hindered by unresolved, childhood trauma. We all have them… but can we move past them. In the depths of our despair there is always beauty around us. If we can sit with our pain, just sit with it… not react… not be defined by it…It’s there… the love the world is constantly giving in any given moment is there. Always waiting for us to see it… Trust me I know.
“Thank you Mike White for your imagination, your tender heart, for the privilege of giving us the opportunity to tell it. Thank you Aimee Lou for being my partner… a journey I will never forget. Sammy Rock for being the best wing man a fella could ask for. And every stellar f*****g actor in this cast…. You’re just incredible to watch. Bernad, John, Ben, Kamine… and this whole crew. I love you. We’ll always have Thailand. And to all of you…thank you for going on this journey with us. Goggins then signed off with a passage from 5th century Greek tragedian, Aeschylus, “Even in our sleep, pain which cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, until, in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God.”
White Lotus Season Four Heading Back to Europe?
With season three now being dissected and reviewed online, a lot of eyes will soon be turning to season four’s location, with the series already taking in Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand.
“We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,” explained HBO’s drama chief Francesca Orsi earlier this year. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe.” Series creator Mike White, meanwhile, said to Deadline recently, “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels”.
