For many, the story has only reinforced fans love of the product. It’s proved that adding to their collection is not only fun – but it could literally save your life one day.
“While I was asleep one Sunday, a series of explosions woke me. I live in the country, so usually these are gunshots being fired by our next-door neighbor–who doesn’t use a berm or backstop,” explained a Reddit user posting as LolaInSlacks88.

For those unaware, a berm is typically a concrete wall or embankment frequently used at shooting ranges to stop bullets leaving the perimeter.
“It sounded like something fell down in my closet,” he continued, “so I went to check–and there was a hole in the wall that went into my Tupperware bins full of Pokemon.”

As the same user explained, the hole in his wall had damaged his much-loved collection of Pokemon cards – but things could have very easily been much worse.
“Turns out my idiot neighbors shot a bullet into my house, and an Incineroar theme deck stopped it,” added the Redditor.
“The actual 9mm bullet was still inside the box. If it hadn’t been there, it would have likely struck me while I was asleep as it was level with my bed.”
LolaInSlacks88 even posted some pictures of the impacted deck – complete with bullet hole.
Talk about a critical hit.
“I’m going to show my wife this as justification to buy more…”
Thankfully, this story has a happy ending – and readers of LolalnSlacks88’s post were glad to hear it.
“I’m going to show my wife this as justification to buy more,” joked one Redditor, before adding “in all seriousness so glad you are okay! That’s insane”
Some asked if the user had reported this to the police or local news.
I did!,” replied LolaInSlacks88.
“They came out to do interviews, but of course no one admitted to doing it. But they stopped using their property like a shooting range, so hopefully they learned their lesson. Still scary AF and I didn’t sleep in my room for a few days afterward.”
The user went on to explain that he now counts the Pokemon Incineroar as his “guardian angel Pokemon.
They added they “have never been happier to have piles of cardboard in my box. You never know–they might stop a bullet!”
