Katy Perry has become the first pop star to go to space.

The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker joined the all-female Blue Origin launch and has seen herself make history. Her fellow travellers on the eight-minute jaunt included broadcaster Gayle King, Jeff Bezos’s fiancee Lauren Sanchez and others.

The venture is part of Amazon’s founder’s attempt to make private space travel a profitable industry. After founding the company in 2000, several missions have taken off. One even included ex-Star Trek star William Shatner.

How did the internet react to the Katy Perry space mission?

Many remarked how underwhelming it was. The eight-minute voyage time didn’t match all the hype.

Some one else wrote, “Katy Perry going to space for 11 minutes whyd i think it was gonna be like an entire month.”

Stan accounts compared the short duration to one of Selena Gomez’s short lived Instagram breaks.

Another person joked they’d seen short form content longer than Perry’s adventure into space.

Others compared it to the hell of commercial flying

Some took the moment to make a gag about Perry’s dramatic reaction, which was like getting off a “commercial flight” in this day and age.
