What is Amanda Bynes famous for?

Bynes shot to fame as a kid on the 90s comedy sketch show The Amanda Show. She went on to have a very successful movie career in the 00s. Many may know her from What A Girl Wants, She’s The Man and many more.

However, Bynes opted to give it all up after she watched back her performance in 2010’s Easy A.

Speaking to PAPER magazine, she said, “I literally couldn’t stand my appearance in that movie and I didn’t like my performance.”

“I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it.”

Bynes confessed to smoking pot before and wondered what extent it affected her.

“I was high on marijuana when I saw that but for some reason it really started to affect me,” she continued.

“I don’t know if it was a drug-induced psychosis or what, but it affected my brain in a different way than it affects other people. It absolutely changed my perception of things.”

What happened with her and Dan Schneider?

The actress has never addressed whether she was ever the victim of any of the behaviour alleged against her Nickelodeon show creator, Dan Schneider. He has faced many allegations of inappropriate conduct on set. They were explored in the documentary Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.

Stars of his shows include Josh Peck, Drake Bell, Ariana Grande and Jeanette McCurdy, to name a few.

Jenny Kilgen, a writer on Bynes’ show, claimed that he would put skits on air in exchange for massages.

He would always present it like a joke… he would be laughing while he said it,” she said in the programme. “But it always felt like disagreeing with Dan or standing up for yourself could result in you getting fired.”

He has since apologised for his “embarrassing” behaviour at Nickelodeon. He left the channel in 2018. Stars of his shows include Josh Peck, Drake Bell, Ariana Grande and Jeanette McCurdy, to name a few.

He said in a YouTube video posted at the time, “I apologise to anybody that I ever put in that situation, and even additionally, I apologise to the people who were walking around video village or wherever they happened, because there were lots of people there who witnessed it who also may have felt uncomfortable.”
