The new adaptation of Wuthering Heights will hit theaters in February 2026.

And now Jacob Elordi – who plays Heathcliff in the movie – has branded his co-star Margot Robbie as “a livewire”.

Robbie, 34, will play Catherine ‘Cathy’ Earnshaw in the film, opposite Elordi’s Byronic hero.

And in a new interview, Elordi, 27, had nothing but praise for his fellow Aussie actor.

“She’s incredible in the film, she’s a livewire,” he said. “I’m so, so excited for people to see it. She’s a beautiful actor and she gave so, so much.”

With a supporting cast of stars – including Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver and Hong Chau – the movie is sure to be one of the most talked about of the next year.

And Elordi appeared to agree.

“The performances from everyone – it’s breathtaking,” he added. “It’s an incredible romance. It’s a true epic.

“It’s visually beautiful. The script is beautiful. The costumes are incredible.”

It’s not the first time that Elordi has heaped praise on one of his Wuthering Heights co-stars.

The Euphoria actor recently revealed that Owen Cooper, who will play the younger version of Heathcliff in the movie, is “brilliant”.

However, Elordi also said that the 15-year-old is “intimidating”!

Asked in an interview about working with the teenager – who is the breakout star of Netflix’s Adolescence – Elordi admitted, “He’s a rock star. He’s brilliant and he’s intimidating.

“I think the first time I met him I asked, ‘Are you nervous mate?’ and he went, ‘No’. And I thought, ‘Cool… cool, me neither.’”

Elordi added, “But no, he is a tremendous actor.”

Fans urged Jacob Elordi to ‘take a break’

Despite his excitement over the project – which is based on the 1847 novel by Emily Brontë – Elordi also admitted that he wasn’t looking to take on any more acting jobs.

The star said he had been planning to “take a break” from the spotlight, before director Emerald Fennell offered him the part.

“I was really lucky,” Elordi told IndieWire. “I was going to take a break for a while, and then Emerald just very simply texted me, and you can’t run from that text.”

But after the controversy over his casting – as Elordi is white, and Heathcliff is described in the novel as a “dark-skinned gypsy” – fans think he should have “blocked Fennell’s number”.

“If Emerald Fennell is texting you, RUN,” they laughed. Another added, “Maybe he should have run from that text so that the role could have been given to a person of color and stopped the white washing of Heathcliff.”
