Singer Jennifer Lopez has gone viral, and it’s not for her bodega sandwich order! Lopez, 55, posted a hilarious meme on her Instagram on 27 April.

Lopez has been in the news in recent months over her divorce from ex-husband actor Ben Affleck, 52. Affleck remained positive when speaking about his divorce in a GQ interview. Affleck said Lopez had “handled celebrity more adeptly and more adroitly than I have.”

Furthermore, The Accountant star praised his ex, calling her “spectacular”. Lopez and Affleck began dating in 2002 after meeting on the set of Gigli. In November 2002, they quickly got engaged but called time on their romance in January 2004.

However, Bennifer, as they were known, reunited in April 2021 after Lopez split from Alex Rodriguez. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be, as after marrying in July 2022, the two divorced in January 2025.

Some fans think Lopez’s Instagram post was shade to her ex. But what did she post, and how did the internet react?

Jennifer Lopez says inflation makes her love cost a thing

The Jenny From the Block singer posted the meme on her Instagram that read, “Due to inflation, my love will now be costing a thing”. Currently, the post has over 170,000 likes.

Fans found the meme hilarious as it was an homage to one of Lopez’s breakout hits, My Love Don’t Cost a Thing from 2001. Ironically, in the classic dance pop track, Lopez sings about not needing her lover to have money because she has her own money, and she’s not with him for his riches.

Lyrics from the song she is referencing include, “Even if you were broke, my love don’t cost a thing”. Maybe now it does…

How did the internet react?

Many internet users were not happy with the star’s comments, since she is wealthy. However, others found the post hilarious.

The fans don’t like the inflation joke

Beginning the irritated reactions, one X user wrote in a post, “Did anyone laugh, be honest?”

Simultaneously, another user accused the 55-year-old of stealing the post. “Not her stealing tweets,” they said.

On why she posted the meme, a person said, “Inflation and Ben Affleck.”

Imagine almost getting married 20 years earlier, finally marrying, and divorcing within a few years? Who wouldn’t put money above love at that point?

One unimpressed fan wrote in a post, “‘Due to inflation,’ says the person who collects wedding rings like she’s Thanos”.

For context, Lopez has been married four times.

We agree with Jennifer Lopez

On the other hand, many fans seemed to agree with what Lopez was selling. (Not literally).

“This is funny, y’all just hating,” remarked one user.

Another user responded with a meme of Shera Seven, also known as the Sprinkle Sprinkle Lady. Shera teaches her followers to date rich no matter what, which maybe Lopez is now doing.

“Lmao she is real for this one,” said one user.

“Jennifer Lopez should be a comedian as she’s hilarious,” commented another user.
