- A family came home from lunch to find a bear in their garden
- This wasn’t unusual – but this particular bear was curious about the slide
- One of them captured some very wholesome footage

A family came home to find a bear playing on the slide in their garden in Connecticut earlier this month.
Sarah Loving had been out for lunch with her husband and their two young children when she spotted two bears in their backyard. This isn’t unusual in their small suburb of Simsbury, where it’s common to find overturned garbage cans along the road because bears have been rifling through them for food.
“He went down the slide, like he had done it before”
When Loving noticed one of the bears climbing the stairs to the slide, she began filming.
“He made it to the landing and then went down the slide, like he had done it before,” she said. The video captures the bear going down the slide head first, its paws breaking its fall into a pile of sand. When it gets to the bottom, it calmly looks around before getting up. Chances are, we can assume he had fun.

“Is he gonna go down the slide?” Loving’s husband asks off-camera. “Oh my gosh, there he goes.”
“They seemed so comfortable on the playscape”
Loving reckoned the pair of bears stuck around for around 10 minutes before heading into her neighbor’s back yard.
“They seemed so comfortable on the playscape,” said Loving. “We just kept joking that they probably have been before, but we have not seen a bear go down playscape before, ever. That was a first.”
Has this been caught on camera before?
It has – the video above captures another curious bear going down a slide in Colorado in 2021. There’s plenty of other footage out there too from other occasions.
