Kirk Medas, former star of MTV’s Floribama Shore has died at the age of 33.
An MTV spokesperson said in a statement released on 2 May “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of the Floribama Shore family. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time”

Medas gained recognition as a main cast member on the MTV reality series, which was a spinoff of the original Jersey Shore. He appeared on the show throughout its four-season run between 2017-2021.

The reality star had been in a Miami hospital for two weeks fighting for his life in an intensive care unit after falling critically ill.
How did Kirk Medas die?
Just hours before the Medas’s death, his family revealed he’d been placed on a ventilator after being admitted to the hospital on 18 April. He was being treated for a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis.
The condition is a form of acute pancreatitis in which parts of the pancreas die due to inflammation and lack of blood flow.
As reported by TMZ, doctors told Medas’s father that he ultimately passed away due to liver failure.
His former reality co-star, Aimee Hall, had posted a photo of Medas in ICU only yesterday – a day before the news broke of his passing.
Hall explained that Medas didn’t have medical insurance and asked everybody for their prayers and support.
She wrote “Kirk does not have medical insurance, and his sweet, strong mother has created a GoFundMe to help with the overwhelming expenses. If you’re able to give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you can’t, your prayers mean just as much.”
Tributes pour in for Medas
Following his passing, Hall took to Instagram again to announce they had “lost a brother, a best friend, and heaven gained the most beautiful angel”.
She reflected on her time starring alongside Medas on the reality show, writing “we started this journey together when we were just 24 years old, and from that moment on, we were family”.
The Floribama Shore X account paid tribute to Medas, writing “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of the Floribama Shore family. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time.”.
Yesterday, Nilsa Prowant, one of Medas’s former Floribama Shore castmates, posted a video montage of the two sharing happy moments.
Medas’s mother set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical costs prior to his death. It now bears the title ‘Support Kirk Medas: Funeral Arrangement & Medical,’ and people can show their support and love by making a donation.
