A Lady Gaga Brazil concert almost became the subject of a tragic attack. Fortunately, Brazilian police thwarted a suspected bomb attack planned for her concert on 3 April. Specifically, Gaga, 39, held a free concert on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, where the attack would be.
Thankfully, police foiled the attempt, as 2 million people attended the free concert over the weekend. Notably, the city paid for the concert to boost the local economy. Meanwhile, for Gaga, the concert was a promotional opportunity to promote her eighth studio album, Mayhem. Looking ahead, Gaga is heading on the Mayhem Ball tour in July.

Consequently, the concert could bring in a shocking $100 million to the economy in Brazil. But the prosperity of the event has left a bad legacy, given the alleged attack planned.
What did police find out about the Lady Gaga Brazil concert?

According to the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro state, perpetrators had planned to carry out a series of attacks at the concert with improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails. Regarding the motive for the crime, it was said to be for social media fame.
After finding out about the plan, two people were arrested in connection with the alleged Lady Gaga Brazil concert attack. One of them was a teenager. Additionally, police had found that the group in charge of planning the attack had been spreading hate speech against LGBTQ+ people, children, and teenagers.
Before the attack could happen, the one who was supposedly behind it all was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm. Meanwhile, the teenager in question was detained for unrelated child pornography charges.
The investigation
Before any attack occurred, police intelligence found that those in the group called themselves Gaga fans. Subsesquently, after learning of the attack, police issued search warrants in various areas where they seized electronic devices and other items of interest.
Police raided the locations of 15 suspects.
A tip-off led police to find a group online that was encouraging violence among teenagers.
Gaga learned of the attack from the media
Following the concert, the Abaracadabara singer learned about the attack through the media.
A spokesperson for her told The Hollywood Reporter: “We learned about this alleged threat via media reports this morning”.
They continued, “Prior to and during the show, there were no known safety concerns, nor any communication from the police or authorities to Lady Gaga regarding any potential risks. Her team worked closely with law enforcement throughout the planning and execution of the concert, and all parties were confident in the safety measures in place.”
An emotion Gaga took to her Instagram to address her fans after the concert. She said in a post, “Nothing could prepare me for the feeling I had during last night’s show — the absolute pride and joy I felt singing for the people of Brazil”.
The star continued, “The sight of the crowd during my opening songs took my breath away. Your heart shines so bright, your culture is so vibrant and special, I hope you know how grateful I am to have shared this historical moment with you.”
