It isn’t just football fans that will be glued to their TVs on Sunday, movie and TV fans will be watching interestedly too as trailers for several big upcoming movies and televisions series are set to drop during the Super Bowl coverage.
Trailers for hotly anticipated films including Deadpool 3, Wicked, Inside Out 2 and A Quiet Place: Day One are expected to drop during the coverage of the Super Bowl, traditionally the most-watched TV broadcast in the US.
Big upcoming TV shows will also be previewed, with shows including Knuckles, The Tiger’s Apprentice and The Family Stallone set to feature, according to Variety.
More than 100 million people are expected to watch Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday. Advertising spots during the game don’t come cheap – a 30-second clip costs about $7 million.
Deadpool 3 has already released images of the upcoming film, showing the titular hero – again played by Ryan Reynolds – team up with Wolverine of the X-Men, played by Hugh Jackman, to defeat a common enemy.
Meanwhile, the Wicked film – billed as Part One – is a big-screen adaptation of the wildly successful stage musical. Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, with the plot focusing on Elphaba, a green-skinned woman, and how she became the Wicked Witch of the West – best known from The Wizard of Oz.
Inside Out 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 2015 Pixar film. We rejoin Riley in her teenage years and her emotions – Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger – now have new scenarios to deal with, along with new emotions, such as Anxiety, joining them in headquarters.
In terms of TV shows, Knuckles is a spin-off from the Sonic The Hedgehog films. In the show, the action picks up after the events of Sonic 2 and we join the super strong yet naïve echidna and his mission to train deputy sheriff Wade in the ways of the Echidna warrior.
