- Practical Magic first hit our screens over 25 years ago
- And now a sequel has been confirmed, with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman starring once more
- Fans went wild for the news online

Practical Magic was the cult Halloween movie that first hit our screens in 1998.
Starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, the pair play sisters – and witches – Sally and Gillian Owens in the film.
Raised by their aunts after their parents’ death from a family curse, the sisters were taught the uses of practical magic as they grew up.
But as fans know, as adults, the pair then had to learn to use their powers to destroy the evil spirit of Gillian’s abusive boyfriend – before it kills them.
While we won’t give any major spoilers for the first movie, fans are now in luck – as a sequel has been announced.
Set to hit theaters on September 18, 2026, they could hardly contain their excitement when a teaser trailer was shared online.
“This is my Met Gala, you couldn’t understand,” wrote one. Another agreed, “This is my Super Bowl. My Barbie. My Eras Tour. My everythingggg.”
Someone else yelled, “Y’ALL HAVE NO IDEA HOW ANNOYING I’M ABOUT TO BE.”

Others harked back to the original movie, which garnered mixed reviews from critics, but became a firm fan favorite.
“Fell to my knees as This Kiss by Faith Hill started ringing in my ears,” wrote one of the Practical Magic soundtrack.
Another hoped, “This is EVERYTHING to me. Manifesting the costume designer and stylists can serve as much as they did, need the most accurate aesthetic.”
Some feared they were showing their age.
“I say I’m not a millennial woman a lot for someone who goes super saiyan for an announcement like this,” they smiled.

However, others were “terrified the studio will ruin” Practical Magic’s return.
“If y’all try to add younger people as the leads or something…” warned one.
And all fans really wanted is the Queen of Wigs, Kidman, to retain her reign.
“We don’t care,” they insisted. “We just want Nicole Kidman in a wig and Sandra Bullock with freshened up botox.”
Someone else agreed, “If Nicole doesn’t bring back the iconic Gillian Owens wig.. I’m gonna be sick.”
“Nicole, you better locate those wigs, girl!” urged another.
