February was a great month for movies at the theater, and March is shaping up to be just as exciting for new releases – here are the ones we want to see.

As the cinema sector continues to gradually recover after the COVID years and tempt people back to see movies as they were intended – on the big screen with a bucket of popcorn – filmmakers are doing their bit by bringing out some exciting movies to tickle all tastes.

Here is Pubity’s take on some of the best movies coming out in March – and we have something for everyone, from sci-fi adventure to family fantasy to comedy and horror.

The Bride!

The Bride! Is Maggie Gyllenhall’s modern take on the Bride of Frankenstein story. Starring Jessie Buckley as the titular bride and Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s monster, the story, set in the 1930s sees a murdered woman brought back to life to be a companion for the monster. What then ensues is a love story, combined with a murder spree as the couple try to stay one step ahead of the police.

Mother’s Pride

This British film is from the same people who brought you Fisherman’s Friends a few years ago – and mines a similar vein of comedy, drama and British whimsy. It centres on a failing pub in a rural community, where a grieving family’s life is changed by starting to brew real ale and entering the Great British Beer Awards. Among the stars are Martin Clunes – who was recently seen in Wuthering Heights.

Reminders of Him

Romantic drama Reminders of Him follows the story of Kenna Rowan, who ends up in prison after making a mistake that had tragic consequences. After her release some years later, we follow her as she tries to reconnect with her daughter, who she had lost custody of to her late boyfriend’s family, and find redemption.

Ready or Not 2: Here I come

Comedy-horror sequel Ready or Not 2: Here I come drops on March 20 and we return to Grace MacCaullay, the only survivor of a brutal ‘game’ in the original movie. While she is trying to rebuild her life, it appears her victory the first time round just qualifies her for a new game. This time, some of the wealthiest and most influential families in the world are trying to kill her – failure could see them lose their power and wealth. Understandably, Grace doesn’t want to play – until she learns her sister has also been marked for death and needs protecting. Chasing and gore aplenty follows, with stars including Sarah Michelle Gellar on top form.

Project Hail Mary

This sci-fi adventure film, based on the book of the same name, stars Ryan Gosling as astronaut Ryland Grace, who wakes up on spacecraft with no memory of how he got there, who he is or what his mission was. It emerges that he was the only survivor of a mission to save Earth from disaster. Resuming his mission, Ryland must use his expertise and ingenuity, helped by an alien called Rocky. Can they success and save the world?

The Magic Faraway Tree

This fantasy adventure film has been written by Simon Farnaby (who also wrote the Paddington films), adapted from the Enid Blyton book of the same name. it follows the story of a family who have to relocate to the remote British countryside, whereupon they discover a magical tree that can transport them to spectacular and fantastic lands – and can help the members of the family to reconnect with each other.
