The weather might be getting summery but there are still plenty of reasons to sit in a darkened room for two hours with some blockbuster movies out in June.

Yes, the weather is warming up and outdoor pursuits may be calling, but there are still plenty of reasons to sit in a darkened room for a couple of hours this month. There are plenty of much-anticipated movies out this month that should get plenty of people through the doors of your local theater.

Out this month is a return from a much-beloved animated franchise, as well as a big-screen version of an iconic 80s cartoon and toy line. We also have a reboot for a spoof series, as well as action movies, comedies and the latest entry in the DC Extended Universe.

Here are six movies we are excited to see in June.

Masters of the Universe

Ask your parents about Masters of the Universe and they’ll get misty-eyed about the iconic 80s cartoon, along with the huge toy line that came with it. With other toys getting the big screen treatment, there has been another crack at a live-action version of Masters of the Universe. This has Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man/Prince Adam, with Jared Leto delivering a star turn as the skull-face Skeletor and looks to be a lot of fun with some great fight scenes. Certainly looks better than the 80s movie version. Hits theaters on June 5.

Scary Movie

It was inevitable really, that once Scream returned to the screens earlier this year, then Scary Movie would follow in its wake, gleefully taking the mick out of the horror genre. Like Scream, the reboot of Scary Movie brings back original cast members such as Anna Faris for more laughs and silliness. Lands June 5.

Stop! That! TraIN!

Action comedy disaster movie Stop! That! Train! Pulls into theaters on June 12. The logline gives the plot of two best friend train stewardesses switch from a dull railway tyo the luxurious Glamazonian Express. When a massive storm occurs en route, they must work with the first class crew and President Gagwell to prevent disaster striking LA. This is apparently set in the Drag Race world, and features Ru Paul and various alumni from the TV show, as well as cameos from stars such as Sarah Michelle Gellar. Expect laughs, outrageousness and plenty of fabulousness.

The Death of Robin Hood

The Death of Robin Hood is a dark take on the Robin Hood legend, based on the 17th-century ballad Robin Hood’s Death. Hugh Jackman stars as Robin, with Jodie Comer and Bill Skarsgard also starring.

The premise is that an ageing and critically injured Robin Hood reflects on his past life or crime and murder, while being tended by a mysterious woman. Our June 19.

Toy Story 5

Toy Story is back for a fifth outing, seven years after Toy Story 4, which was met with a mixed reception by critics and fans alike. This time the action picks up with Bonnie now eight years old, and very much enamoured by her new plaything, a tablet device called a Lilypad. This presents an existential threat to the toys – now led by Jessie with Buzz as second in command. They find Woody to help – but can they overcome the mighty pull of technology? See what happens from June 19.

Supergirl

The latest instalment of the new DC Extended Universe sees Supergirl enter the fray, with Milly Alcock as the titular heroine. As Kara Zoe-El travels the galaxy to celebrate her 23rd birthday (as you do) alongside her dog, Krypto, she encounters a tragic event as a villain strikes too close to home. Alongside an unlikely companion, they embark on a quest for vengeance and justice. Our June 26.
