It has been a whirlwind five years for PinkPantheress. From her breakthrough as a recording artist in 2021, she has had hits on both sides of the Atlantic since then, along with a raft of award nominations too.

Now, PinkPatheress is going along the well-trodden path of many a recording artist into the world of acting. Deadline broke the story that PinkPantheress set to make her feature acting debut in the secret event film being directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert – who won an Oscar for Everything, Everywhere All at Once.

PinkPantheress joins a raft of stars already signed up to the project including Matt Damon, Sandra Oh, Sean Kaufman, Jackson Kelly, Michael Gandolfini, Kerrice Boorkes, Thalia Dudek and Silvia Dionicio.

However, details of the movie are being kept strictly under wraps – we don’t even have a title yet, let alone any plot details.

But how much do you know about PinkPantheress? Here are some facts you might not know.

The story behind the name

PinkPantheress is known to her parents as Victoria Walker. But she has used the PinkPantheress moniker since the start of her career when she posted content to TikTok. But where does the name come from? There are a couple of elements to it: Firstly, she is a big fan of the Pink Panther film series, but it also came from a question on The Chase, a UK quiz show, which asked what a female panther is called.

She is deaf in one ear

PinkPantheress has also experienced hearing loss. It initially began as tinnitus – a ringing in the ear – after exposure to loud microphone feedback, but it has now developed to being 80% deaf in her right ear. She has described hearing voices as sounding “mostly like bass”.

She cites Hayley Williams as her inspiration

PinkPantheress has said that Hayley Williams – frontwoman of Paramore – first inspired her to be a professional musician. She watched her perform on stage at the Reading Festival when she was just 14, and wanted to do that too.

Pinkpantheress has cited others as influences including Michael Jackson, Kate Nash, Lily Allen, Green Day and My Chemical Romance.

She started out making tracks in her bedroom

PinkPantheress started writing music in high school, and, still a teenager, she started using GarageBand to produce instrumentals for a friend and fellow singer.

While at university, she started making original songs and uploading them to SoundCloud. But it was posting videos on TikTok that helped to break her as an artist. After one clip in December 2020 received more than 500,000 likes, she then posted a snippet of ‘Just a Waste’, which has a sample of ‘Off the Wall’ by Michael Jackson in it as PinkPanteress, which then went viral and kickstarted her recording career.

She’s a record-breaking award winner

PinkPantheress’ production skills have garnered great acclaim in recent years. This has included Producer of the Year by Billboard Women in Music in 2024. In February 2026, in the UK she won the Brit Award for British Producer of the Year, making her the youngest artist and the first woman to receive the award.

She has also been nominated for a Grammy Award.

She used a purse to overcome stage fright

In her early live performances, PinkPantheress would take to the stage clutching a purse in her hand. This was to help her feel more comfortable by having something familiar with her and counter the stage fright she was experiencing.
