Josh Hutcherson has just landed the role as the voice of Mister Miracle in the upcoming DC animated series – but how much do you know about the actor?

DC’s upcoming animated Mister Miracle series is already creating lots of interest in superhero circles and this is sure to ramp up now it has been confirmed that the series has found its lead voices, with Josh Hutcherson playing Scott Free and Mackenzie Davies as Big Barda.
DC Studios’ CEO Peter Sarfran confirmed the news in an interview with IGN. He also noted that showrunner Tom King has written all eight episodes in the series, something that will delight fans of Mister Miracle, as Tom wrote the 2017 12-comic series that the new show is based on.
That Josh is providing the voice will also excite fans, as he is a rising star in the industry. He has provided voices for animation before, such as Epic in 2013.
But how much do you know about Josh Hutcherson? Here are some facts you might not know about him.
He wanted to be an actor from a young age
Josh has said he was in love with the entertainment industry from the age of four and bugged his parents constantly about wanting to become an actor – even though his parents were wary of the industry.
Josh had no such worries and, aged 8, went through the Yellow Pages (kids, ask your parents) and found the number of an acting agency and called it.
It worked and, after meeting an acting coach with his mother, he was advised, aged 9, to move to Los Angeles to start auditioning for commercials and TV shows. He and his mother made the move and he quickly started picking up regular work.
He was once concussed by Jennifer Lawrence
One of Josh’s biggest roles to date has been as Peeta Mellark in the Hunger Games series of movies from 2012-15, alongside Jennifer Lawrence who played Katniss Everdean.
On set, Josh became known for being something of a prankster, but this backfired on him one day. He was playfighting with Jennifer, but things got a little boisterous and Jennifer accidentally kicked Josh in the head, knocking him unconscious and giving him a mild concussion.
However, the incident didn’t affect the pair’s relationship and the remain great friends. They reunite on screen in the new Hunger Games movie this year.
He’s a massive sports fan
Josh is a huge sports fan. He enjoys playing various sports, but also supports several teams.
For instance, he is a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL – Rudi Johnson is apparently his favourite player – and has even thrown the first pitch in a Bengals game. He is also a fan of the University of Kentucky’s Wildcats – he is a native of Kentucky.
In the MLB, he backs the Cincinnati Reds.
He adopted a disabled dog
Josh loves animals, and he adopted a disabled pitbull puppy, which he named Driver. He also has two other dogs, as well as a couple of cats.
He’s an advocate for the LGBT community
Josh is well known for his support of the LGBT community, including advocating for the gay-straight alliance campaign Straight But Not Narrow since its formation. In 2012, he received the Vanguard Award from GLAAD, which is given to those who promote equal rights for LGBT people, and was the youngest person to receive that award.
Josh describes himself as “mostly straight” but doesn’t believe in labels. He’s been in a relationship with Claudia Traisac since 2013.
His involvement with LGBT issues is borne out of family experience – two of his uncles, who were gay, died of AIDS-related illnesses.
