Alan Ritchson, who currently stars in the ‘Reacher’ hit Amazon Prime series, has said he would “absolutely love” to play Batman in the upcoming film.

Batman is being rebooted in James Gunn’s DC Universe, with a film currently titled ‘The Brave and the Bold.’ The film will see the return of Robin to the big screen, but this time, it will be Damian Wayne as the Boy Wonder, rather than Dick Grayson. Andy Muschietti has been confirmed as director. However, who will play Batman has yet to be announced.

“The fact that people are interested in me playing Batman is a real honor and privilege,” Ritchson said, speaking on the Post Cred Podcast. “It’s one of the first characters I fell in love with as a child.”

This is not the first time Ritchson has said he would love to play the caped crusader – back in December 2023, talking to Fortress of Solitude he said “How can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman.”

Ritchson is no stranger to DC superheroes. He made his acting debut all the way back in 2005 playing Arthur Curry – Aquaman to his friends – in the Smallville TV series that focused on Clark Kent’s early years. He later played Hank Hall/Hawk in HBO’s Titans from 2018-21.

The actor has been playing Jack Reacher in the third live-action incarnation of Lee Child’s wildly popular book series since 2022. A third season is currently in the works.

Ritchson isn’t the only name in the frame to don the famous cowl. Jake Gyllenhaal has been mentioned, as has Jenson Ackles and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, among others.

However, it may be some time before we find out who will get the role. Gunn said back in December 2023 that a script had yet to be written, so it won’t be until that is complete that they will look more into castings.
