- Next film will be a reboot of the much-loved Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, according to Jerry Bruckheimer
- No word on who will be starring in the new film – various rumors involve Johnny Depp returning and Margot Robbie taking on a role
- No details on when the film might be released.

The long-rumored sixth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will be a reboot, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed.
Soeaking to ComicBook.com, Bruckheimer said that a new Pirates film was in the works, along with Top Gun 3.
Bruckheimer added that Top Gun 3 will take a long time to make it to production because it requires finding a window for filming that fits with the schedules of the various A-list actors involved, including Tom Cruise. “But we’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors,” he said.
There has long been talk of Pirates 6 – it is now seven years since the last movie in the franchise came out – and many rumors about who might, or might not, be involved. For instance, Margot Robbie has been linked with a leading role, and there has been talk that Johnny Depp could return to his iconic Captain Jack Sparrow role.
But with Bruckheimer’s comments, it seems that it could be an all-new cast that features in any new film. However, when this might hit screens has not been revealed. A script is said to have been written, but no word yet on when production might start.
The last film in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Men Tell No Tales, was released in 2017. To date, the franchise has grossed more than $4.5 billion at the global box office.
