Twitch streamer Ninja has announced that he is now free of skin cancer – just weeks after revealing he had the condition.

Ninja – real name Tyler Blevins – revealed the good news on X (formerly Twitter). He posted: “Just got the news from my dermatologist. Great news X2!

“Excision was successful with clear margins. Lesion biopsied nearby showed only mild atypia and was entirely removed with the biopsy. As of right now, I am officially cancer free thank you all for the prayers and kind words this week. Love you all.”

In late March, Ninja had used the same platform to tell his 6.6 million followers of his diagnosis of melanoma, a form of skin cancer, saying he was shocked but hopeful that it had been caught early.

He was alerted to the cancer in a regular skincare checkup and Ninja has since urged people to ensure that they get their skin checked regularly too.

Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that develops in cells called melanocytes, which are responsible for the pigment that gives skin its color. It often appears on skin that is often exposed to the sun, such as arms, face and legs. Symptoms commonly include a change in the appearance of an existing mole or a new pigmented or unusual-looking growth on the skin. If you are worried about any skin changes you have noticed, consult a healthcare professional.

Ninja has accrued 19 million followers on Twitch, who follow his exploits on Fortnite, and is one of the best-known names in streaming. Such is his fame he has even appeared on mainstream shows such as The Masked Singer.
