A reboot of superhero drama series Heroes is reportedly in the works, with its creator Tim Kring at the helm.

First reported by Deadline, and confirmed by others, a reboot, called Heroes: Eclipsed is in development. The series would be set years after the events of the original series, which ran for four seasons from 2006 to 2010. Kring is executive producer on the project. In the reboot, new characters would be discovering their superpowers.

Little else has been confirmed on the project, such as other plot details, casting, or a potential release date.

Popular drama

Heroes was instantly popular when it ran on NBC in the US. It focused on the lives of a group of ordinary people who discover they have superhuman powers and follows how they adapt to having these abilities and working together to prevent future disasters and ultimately save the world. Stars of the series included Haydn Panettiere, Milo Ventimiglia, Zachary Quinto, Ali Larter and Sendhil Ramamurthy.

The series was revived in 2015, with a 13-episode season called Heroes: Reborn. This was a continuation of the original series set some years on from the events of the fourth season but with a roster of mostly new characters and storylines – although characters from the original series did come back later in the run, again teaming up to save the world.

Kring previously spoke in 2015 about how Heroes had a broad enough premise to return with new and returning characters as it is about ordinary people with extraordinary abilities coming together to save the world.
