It’s been quite a week for Sydney Sweeney.

Just as she was going about her own business, the actor, 26, was harshly attacked by Hollywood producer Carol Baum – who insulted both Sweeney’s career and looks in brutal comments during a screening of her 1988 film, Dead Ringers.

“She’s not pretty, she can’t act,” Baum said. “I don’t get Sydney Sweeney.”

Branding Sweeney’s recent movie, Anyone But You, “unwatchable”, Baum continued, “I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her.

“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’ Nobody had an answer.”

She added: “I said, ‘Well, that’s a really good question … that’s a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know. Your job is to get the movie made.’”

However, not one to let the haters grind her down, Sweeney – who shot to fame as Cassie Howard in the HBO drama series Euphoria, and whose new movie Eden will be released later this year – clapped back at Baum.

In a post shared to her 19.7 million Instagram followers, Sweeney shared a carousel of photos to the social media site – in some of which she was wearing a sweater which read, “Sorry for having great tits and correct opinions.”

Sweeney’s agent also released a statement on behalf of the actor, which said, “How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman. If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful.”
