It was the hit Netflix series that creeped its way onto our screens in November 2022.

And now Wednesday fans can rejoice – as there’s been another cast development ahead of season two of the show.

According to Variety, the series – which features Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Adams, the daughter of the infamous Adams Family – has reportedly bagged Thandiwe Newton to appear in its second installment.

Fans will recognise British actor Newton, 51, for her role as Maeve Millay in Westworld – for which she received three Emmy nominations for best supporting actress in a drama, winning the award in 2018 – and as corrupt copper DI Roz Huntley in the BBC police drama, Line of Duty.

Newton joins another new face to Wednesday, as Steve Buscemi will also be appearing in the show – but as of yet, little is known about the roles each actor will play.

Ortega, 21, will be back in the spotlight as Wednesday herself, which saw the star successfully solve grisly murders in series one. It’s also highly likely that Catherine Zeta-Jones will reappear as Morticia, and Emma Myers as Wednesday’s roommate and best friend Enid Sinclair, as creators Al Gough and Miles Millar said in December 2022 that they hoped future seasons of the show would explore the bond between these characters and Wednesday.

The show is set to start filming again this month, after plans for season two were delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes that halted much of Hollywood in last year.

On its debut, Wednesday became one of the most-watched shows that Netflix has ever released, and was nominated for 12 Emmys, winning four.
