A man has been detained by Toronto police after he allegedly attempted to break into the home of rapper Drake.

This is the second serious incident outside of Drake’s home this week – a security guard was shot and seriously injured outside it by unknown assailants in a vehicle on Tuesday.

However, while the events have come close together, police have said there is no link between the incidents.

Likewise, no link has been made to these incidents and the increasingly bitter public feud Drake currently has with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.

In a statement seen by CNN, police said they arrived at Drake’s home at 2pm local time after receiving reports of “a person attempting to gain access to the property.”

The man was stopped by police under the Ontario Mental Health Act and then given medical assistance. This Act means police can take those apparently experiencing mental illness into custody and give them medical assistance, rather than arresting them.

Police have since said that no criminal charges have been filed yet against the man they detained.

Drake has yet to comment publicly on the events of this week. Indeed, it is not known if he was at home during either incident.

Drake’s home – which he calls The Embassy, and he has referenced in tracks and on social media – is in the prestigious Bridle Path area of Toronto. It was featured recently on the cover art for Lamar’s track Not Like Us.

The feud between Drake and Lamar has escalated in recent weeks, with both releasing ‘diss tracks’ about each other.
