Guest appearances in Disney+ series The Kardashians are nothing new, but an upcoming one has caught everyone by surprise – Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

The first episode of season five of The Kardashians contained a look at what was coming up in the rest of the season, including Kim knocking on a door, which was opened by Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who enthusiastically greets the Kardashian.

Extraordinary journey

It is the latest twist in the extraordinary tale of Gypsy Rose. She first hit the deadlines when she was jailed for the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee. She later became the subject of the documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, which delved into the backstory of the family and how Gypsy Rose came to commit the offence.

Gypsy Rose served seven years of her jail sentence before being released in December 2023. Since then, she has cropped up periodically in the news, most recently when announced she was splitting from her husband – which will be covered in an upcoming reality show.

Internet reacts

As you would expect, the internet has had its say on this surprise revelation. One user on X – the platform formerly known as Twitter – said: “The Kardashification of Gypsy was NOT on my 2024 bingo card”

Another posted: “this feels like 2 of my worlds colliding”.

Others were more cynical. One posted: “The kartrashians [sic] will milk everyone’s relevancy” while another had similar thoughts: “tell me this isn’t for ratings without telling me this isn’t for ratings”.

If nothing else, it has got everyone talking about quite how this cameo came about and what will take place in the episode she appears on, which was probably the intention of the clip.
