After more than a decade of scaring audiences, the Conjuring series is set to end with a final film in 2025.
New Line Cinema has set a release date of September 5, 2025, for the fourth film in the Conjuring series to hit theaters, which has been billed as a finale for the main line of films.
Mainstays back
Michael Chavez has been confirmed as the director for the film, having directed the previous instalment in the Conjuring series, 2021’s The Devil Made Me Do It. He also directed spinoff film, The Nun II in 2023. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are again set to star as paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has written the script.
The plot for the film has not yet been revealed. However, previous films have been based on real-life cases and the work of the real Ed and Lorraine Warren. This included the plot of the first film in the series, The Conjuring, which was based on the haunting of the Perron family by a 19th century witch. Likewise, the Annabel films – a spinoff that is part of the Conjuring Universe – which is based on a real-life Raggedy Ann doll that was allegedly possessed by an evil spirit.
Big franchise
The Conjuring franchise has become one of the biggest grossing of the 21st century since the first film was released in 2013. In addition to the Conjuring movies, there has also been The Nun series and Annabel. In all, the films have grossed more than $2 billion at the global box office.
