- The Top Gun and Mission Impossible actor looks set for guest appearance at Olympics Closing Ceremony
- Will form part of the handover from Paris to the next Games host, Los Angeles
- Cruise is well known for his support of the Olympics

The Olympic Games in Paris are set for an epic conclusion at the upcoming Closing Ceremony, with blockbuster actor Tom Cruise set for a major appearance in it.
Cruise has already been spotted several times during the Olympics – including at the Opening Ceremony and supporting the US team at the women’s gymnastics – but his biggest appearance is apparently yet to come.
Significant role
Multiple sources – although TMZ was the first to break the story – say that Cruise is set to play a significant role in the Closing Ceremony on August 11, specifically during the handover between current host city Paris and the next host, Los Angeles.
While details about what this will entail are being kept strictly under wraps, a source told Deadline to “expect a major Hollywood production.” There is speculation that Cruise’s role will give a nod to his well-known roles in the Mission: Impossible film franchise and have him carrying the Olympic flag. It has also been reported that the stunt will involve some live and recorded action, as well as some famous Olympic stars.
Olympic love
Cruise is known for his love of the Olympic Games and has carried the Olympic torch in the past. TMZ has claimed that Cruise himself came up with the idea for the stunt and pitched it to the International Olympic Committee, which oversees the Games.
The 2028 Olympic Games will be held in Los Angeles from July 14-30, 44 years after the city last hosted the games, and the third time it will have been held there in all.
